OUR KOLKATA CHAPTER MEET

The inauguration of the Kolkata Chapter of the Alumni Association at St.Xavier's College, Kolkata (30, Park Street) on Sunday 29th May 2011 at 3.30p.m. is expected to be a good crowd puller with many old boys already registering themselves to participate in the Meet. Among the teachers and ex-teachers who would grace the show are Ms.Snighda Ghosh, Ms.Haimanti Duttagupta, Ms.Lakshmi Dutta, Ms.Chobi Bose, Mr. Santimoy Biswas, Mr.U.B.Roy, Mr.Sandip Guha Roy and Mr.Rajaditya Basu.

The meeting would be held at THE STAFF ROOM OF ST.XAVIER'S  COLLEGE  KOLKATA .

REUNION 2012

The A.G.M and Reunion meet for the year 2012 is scheduled to be held on the evening of 7^th January and throughout the day on 8^th January.[ Saturday – Sunday].  The School shall celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2012-2013. The celebrations will be spread over a year starting with a curtain raiser in May 2012. The Reunion Meet 2012 is this of paramount importance in planning out the ex-students’ role and involvement in the Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

All ex-students are thus requested to attend the A.G.M and Reunion meet on the 7^th and 8^th of January 2012. Your participation, suggestions and ideas might go a long way in lending a vibrant colour to the  Golden Jubilee Celebrations!

SCHOOL GYMNASIUM NAMED AFTER REV. FR.A.WAUTIER S.J.

Remember the School Gymnasium--- the huge building, the joyful haven in our P.T. Periods that doubled as the venue for our dreaded Proclamation of Results?!! The building is all set to undergo a sea change. Of late, the stage in the gymnasium witnessed a plethora of cultural events. Efforts are on to convert it into a workable auditorium. Considering the increasing demand of such a venue towards imparting total education, the indispensable hall needs to undergo rapid reforms. The most significant step in this direction was naming it as Father A.Wautier S.J. Memorial Auditorium--- gratefully acknowledging the priceless contribution of the ex-headmaster towards the building of the gymnasium.

Xavex Meet in Kolkata

Less than 10 days to go for our first Xavex meet in Kolkata. We just cannot wait for it.

Just to remind you once again, the Kolkata Chapter of The Durgapur St.Xavier's School Alumni Association, popularly known as 'Xavex' is all set to go functional ‘with a bang’.

Let's all meet over some tea and try to re-live those golden days. The purpose is to get the old boys together for a while and have a very refreshing chat. Also, with the golden jubilee celebrations not too far away, we would like to have your suggestions for the same.

MAY DAY IN SCHOOL

Workers' Day was celebrated in school to honour our dear workers without whom the normal functioning of the school would have been a far cry. On Monday 2nd May, in the school Assembly, all the workers of the school were felicitated warmly by the students. The boys also put up a brief colourful function and shared facts on the May Day legacy.  Mr.Harinder Paswan addressed the gathering on behalf of the workers.

The main attraction of the day was in fact a Volley Ball Match between the Teaching Staff and the Non-teaching staff during the break time on the 2nd May 2011. It was an extended tiffin break to accommodate the match. Father Headmaster was the Umpire in the matches while Father Prefect played the game on the side of the teachers. Sir Roy, P.T. Sir, James Sir, Raja Sir ... all put up a fascinating performance. On the side of the workers were Mr.Martin, Mr.Marshal, Mr.Khem Bahadur, Mr.Jung Bahadur and others.

The noticeable point in the match was the ecstatic cheer of the boys who had lined up round the court and watched with bated breath!!


The teachers won the match 2-0.

New Chapter of Xavex

KOLKATA CHAPTER OF ALUMNI TO START ON 29.5.2011

The Kolkata Chapter of The Durgapur St.Xavier's School Alumni Association, popularly known as Xavex will get functional ‘with a bang’ on  Sunday the 29^th of May 2011, around 3.30p.m. at St.Xavier’sCollege Campus, Park Street ,Kolkata .  It shall be a modest gathering sans any dazzling cultural programme or a sumptuous meal. The purpose is to get the old boys together for a while and have a very refreshing chat.

Earth Week Celebration in School

Earth week was celebrated in our school with much fanfare. The programmes kicked off with the usual Monday Morning Assembly in which the Xaverians put up beautiful speeches and shared much information on Earth Day and Earth Week. Later in the week there was an Environmental Quiz, a Debate, and an Essay Writing Competition.

Under the guidance of our Prefect, Fr.A.Thamacin S.J., a new Herbal garden was inaugurated on the ground adjacent to the Annexe Building. It has been named Assisi Herbal Garden. You are invited to gift Herbal specimens that may be planted on the grounds.
